In discussing a painting like this Dhambit's mother's big sister Gaymala once said; "Bathala Djunuŋgayaŋu (big dugong) … Miny’tji (sacred clan design) belongs to Gumatj (clan). Djunuŋgayaŋu (Dugong) place is called Waningirr a huge area at Biranybirany (saltwater country). The Djirikitj have a nest ground ... circle ... Lamiwuy ... the Djunuŋgayaŋu have this special ground also … that special ground for Dugong in the saltwater.” The fire is in the saltwater at this place (as evidenced by the burns from Gaywarr – box jellyfish). The seagrass or Gamata waving in the currents struck by the sunlight is fire itself under the water and food for the Dugong."
