Dhambit Mununggurr
Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre

This bark painting is the first major bark painted using blue pigment. The rock Dhambit stands against the ocean. Makassan family members come by prau from the North meeting Yolngu from the Yirritja and from the Dhuwa in separate canoes in the waters of the Warramiri clan denoted by Ngarrpiya the Octopus whose capacity to change colour reflects the Ocean's volatility. Starfish decorate the sea. Three brolga paddle their canoe as representatives of her father's Djapu clan. Her indomitable grandfather Wongu paddles his canoe at the base of the painting accompanied by the Gumatj fish of her mother's clan, Nyapanyapa or Nyuŋala, Ox-Eye Herring.
